The Alabama power of attorney for a minor child is a document that allows a parent to give the medical and educational rights to someone else over their son or daughter for up to one (1) year. This type of power of attorney, as stated in Section 26-2A-7, offers the temporary delegation of parental duties but does not consider this title an adoption or relieve the parental powers in any way. Once the form is signed the document is valid for up to one (1) year at which time the form becomes expired or a new one must be created.
