Download the standard two (2) weeks notice letter template to inform an employer that you will be leaving your position but will remain at the job for this period of time. This will give the company sufficient enough time to find someone else and train the person to handle the everyday duties and tasks the role requires.

How to Write

Step 1 – The heading in the upper-right hand corner of the page should be formatted as follows:

  • [Today’s Date]
  • [Manager’s Name]
  • [Company Name]
  • [Company Address]

Step 2 – Always start a letter with ‘Dear ________’ directed at the individual you predominately worked under.

Step 3 – In the first (1st) paragraph, get right to the point and state that you are leaving, how much notice you will be giving (two weeks), and that you will do anything in your power to help replace your absence.

Step 4 – In the second (2nd) paragraph express you appreciation for the the job position and the time you spent with the company.

Step 5 – Conclude the letter with something heartwarming and add a personal touch to the letter by adding your signature. Once complete the letter should be mailed, hand-delivered, or e-mailed to the person of authority at the company.
