Download the Home Inspection Checklist Template that has been designed to provide use to individuals who would like to do their own sort of pre-inspection. This source could be used by realtors for the purpose of letting their clients seller/buyers know the possible problematic areas, or it could be used by a home inspector. Whoever the user is, it will provide a benefit of finding issues prior to a sale of property for proper disclosure

How To Write

Step 1 – Section 1 – Interior Inspection – Attic/Basement-

  • This section will address potential issues with the attic and in the basement or foundation of the property. Whomever is inspecting will look for ventilation, water damage, cracks in the foundation etc. Simply go into the areas, read the questions and check the boxes that may need attention

Step 2 – Section 2 – Fireplace and HVAC –

  • This section will address the safety and usability of the fireplace. If the fireplace is not considered safe, corrections will need to be made to correct the unsafe issues. It will also address the Central Air or Heat Pump and the viability of the system as well as any possible issues that may require a repair person. Read the questions, check those that may need attention.

Step 3 – Section 3 – Water/Electricity –

  • This section will address the accessibility of water and electrical shut off equipment, the size of the water heater, condition of the fuse box or front panel. examine the areas and check the boxes that may need repair or replacement- Read the questions and check the boxes with any  concerns

Step 4 – Section 4 – Walls, Windows, Floors and Doors –

  • This section will look for water spots on the ceilings or down the walls. It will also address, sloping floors, leaking windows, and more. Read the questions in this section to see if there may be any unlivable or dangerous situations that will require repaid and/or disclosure

Step 5 – Section 5 – Bathroom(s) –

The inspection of the bathrooms will consider ventilation, caulking around showers and tubs, cracks in showers, mold or mildew in moist places. Examine each area, check the possible problem areas.

Step 6 – Section 6 – Kitchen –

This section will address drains, secured cabinets, ventilation over cooking appliances, leaking from any pipes and floors that are solid and not dangerous. Read each question and check any box whereas the situation may be questionable.

Step 7 – Section 7 – Exterior Checklist –

This section will look at the exterior of the property. It will address decks and balconies that should be built to code, safe steps and railings, crumbling areas around the chilmey. cracks in the foundation or does it appear to be solid, driveway, any drainage issues. Read all of the checklist and check anything that may apply

Step 8 – Section 8 – General Questions –

Read the General Questions and answer in sentences.
